The mission of Mother Nurtured is to help birthing folks feel heard, understood, and prepared for whatever each pregnancy journey brings.

For me, this work is rooted in community, equity, and trust, offering support that nurtures not just birth, but the transformation into parenthood

Advocacy

Empowerment

The best defense is a good offense. In other words, the more we prepare, learn, and build trust before labor begins, the less likely we are to feel overwhelmed when things get intense.

That’s why advocacy starts long before you step into the delivery room.

During our prenatal visits, we’ll dive into your questions, address your concerns, and explore the options available to you. You’ll receive evidence-based information in a way that’s clear and easy to understand so you can make informed choices that reflect your values. Together, we’ll create a game plan that puts you at the center—your voice, your needs, your vision for birth and beyond.

When labor begins, you won’t be scrambling or second-guessing. You’ll walk in prepared, confident, and supported.

And if things shift or get complicated, I’ll be right there with you. My goal isn’t to speak for you, but to help amplify your voice. My job is to give you the tools, confidence, and clarity to advocate for yourself. I’ll back you up, not take over.

This is advocacy in action. This is empowerment in practice.
And it all begins long before you’re counting contractions.

So… what is a doula?

Good question! There’s often some confusion between midwives and doulas, so here’s a simple way to think about it:

Midwives catch babies, and doulas hold mommies—and support their partners, too!

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to you and your family throughout the childbirth journey. Whether you're navigating pregnancy, labor, or postpartum, a doula offers a non-medical but deeply empowering presence that helps you feel supported, confident, and informed every step of the way.

Think of your doula as a trusted guide—there to listen to your needs, provide comfort, and help you make informed decisions about your birth experience. We’re here to hold space for you so you can focus on what matters most: your experience and your baby.

While we’re here, it’s important to clarify what a doula does not do. We do not perform medical tasks, and we’re not here to replace your healthcare team but to work alongside them. Here’s a breakdown of what’s outside of a doula's role:

  • Provide medical care: We don’t monitor vital signs, check your cervix, or perform any clinical tasks.

  • Make decisions for you: We won’t tell you what to do or how to give birth. Our job is to provide evidence-based information, help you understand your options, and empower you to make the choices that feel right for you.

  • Speak for you with medical staff: While we’ll support you in understanding your options, you and your partner are the ones who will communicate directly with your healthcare team about decisions.

  • Replace your partner: We’re there to support both you and your partner—doula work is about creating a team atmosphere, not replacing anyone’s role.

Meet Kendra

Becoming a mother during the COVID-19 pandemic was an experience I’ll never forget. With restrictions in place and community support harder to come by, I felt the weight of navigating this huge life change without the circle of support I had always imagined. A network of love, guidance, and understanding—especially for new mothers—is so vital.

That experience is what inspired me to become a doula. I believe every mother deserves to be supported through each stage of this journey. It is truly one of the most beautiful, transformative experiences you could have, but it can also feel overwhelming at times. That’s where I come in.

Ever heard the saying “many hands make light work”? Well, it’s true! We were always meant to parent in community. Whether you’re expecting your first baby or adding to your growing family, I’m here to amplify your voice, support your choices, and empower you to make informed decisions that feel right for you. From pregnancy to postpartum, I want you to feel heard, understood, and prepared for whatever the journey brings. You know… nurtured.

I’m not just a doula—I’m your advocate and your cheerleader. While no one can script birth, we can create space for clarity, calm, and strength in the journey. We’ll navigate whatever comes with confidence and compassion.

Take my hand and let’s walk this path together, mama—because it truly takes a village.
